সমুদ্র বাণিজ্য যাত্রার সঙ্গে বাংলার অনন্ত ঐশ্বর্যের যোগ অনেকেই লক্ষ্য করেছেন। বেরা ভাসান দুটো সমাজ এবং দুটি ভূচিত্র(landscape)- ভূমিজ এবং সমুদ্রকে একসাথে জোড়ে। এই যোগসূত্র তিনটি খাসএলাকাকে চিহ্নিত করে – সামুদ্রিক, ভূমিজ/নদীজ এবং কৃষি, যা তিনটি কর্ম সমাধা করে – সওদাগরি, চাষ এবং সমুদ্রে ভাসা এবং এই তিনটির পারম্পর্যকে একসাথে বহন করে নিয়ে চলে। এটা আবার জাগতিক, সামাজিক এবং রাজনৈতিক যোগসূত্রকে নিশ্চিত করে।
