The doll's house of the Dutch Petronella Dunois, dated c.1675, is perhaps the best example of the effect of calicoes in seventeenth-century interior design: the doll's house is lined with bright-coloured dyed and painted cotton textiles from the
Coromandel Coast. The dolls’ house contains a peat loft, a linen room, a nursery, a lying-in room, a reception room, a cellar, a kitchen and a dining room.

১৬৭০এ মলিয়ের তৈরি করলেন চরিত্র মসিয়েঁ জর্ডন - যিনি বললেন my tailor told me that people of quality wear them in the morning। ফরাসি ইস্ট ইন্ডিয়া কোম্পানি বলছে eyes are so much used to it(ক্যালিকো) that at present it is impossible to do without these।
In 1670 Moliere dressed his bourgeois gentleman, Monsieur Jourdain, in a banyan of calicoes. 'I had this printed cotton made up', says Monsieur Jourdain with confidence; 'my tailor told me that people of quality wear them in the morning'. He was not the only one to be charmed by brightly coloured and richly designed Indian textiles. The contemporary Englishman Samuel Pepys had fallen for similar fashions, though he had thought better to decorate his wife's study room with chintz rather than to wear it as done by Monsieur Jourdain. Pepys was pleased with the result, which he thought was 'very pretty'. If one could not have the original Indian import, one would have recourse to rather more modest imitations that were increasingly produced in Europe, in particular in the Netherlands and England towards the end of the seventeenth century. The visual impact of such calicoes can be grasped from the words of one of the directors of the French Compagnie des Indes when he said that 'eyes are so much used to it that at present it is impossible to do without these' .And such fashion was increasingly becoming part of general attire with areas like Frisia incorporating calicoes into their traditional quilted petticoats.

John Blanch, an old hand from the 1690s debate(প্রথম অকার্যকর ক্যালিকো আইন), switched in 1718 from blaming Indians for seducing British women to indicting British women from "the City" for determining "Fashions in the Consumption of India Silks and Calicoes:' The London Weavers' Company also targeted British women, offering cash rewards to people reporting Indian calico furniture and women in calico dresses to Henry Soames, a ribbon weaver. Given such instructions, it is not surprising that more and more people soon began seizing goods and assaulting fashionable women. In June 1719, the weavers doused women's calico gowns with aqua fortis, tore their clothing asunder, and threatened to pull down a house in which several victims had taken cover. The weavers also marched on the increasingly successful calico printing workshops in Lewisham. Witnesses saw Thomas Hardy "with a Piece of Callicoe in his Hand flourishing it over his Head, crying, down with the Callicoes."
