১৭৫২ সালে আবার কোম্পানির পুঁজিতে টান পড়ল। ব্যবসায়ীদের থেকে কোম্পানি জবাবদিহি চাইলে তারা জানালেন পণ্য সরবরাহের টান পড়ার কারণ, owing to our cutting them in the prices, the dearness of cloth at the aurungs and our sorting their goods by old musters w}:tereby they suffered a considerable loss (C&B. Abstr., vol. 5, f. 354, para. 42, 18 Sept. 1752; FWIHC, vol. 1, p. 594)। ফলে কোম্পানি যখন বছরের শেষের হিসেবের খাতা প্রত্যায়িত করার জন্যে ব্যবসায়ীদের আহ্বান জানালে ব্যবসায়ীরা জানাল যেভাবে হিসেবের কাঠামো তৈরি হয়েছে তা তাদের পছন্দ হয় নি, তারা সে হিসেব মানছেন না। তারা স্পষ্টভাবে কাউন্সিলকে জানালেন ১৭৫৩ সালে তারা আর কোম্পানির সঙ্গে কোন রকম লেনদেনে যাবে না(BPC, vol. 26, ff. 66vo-67,-l March 1753; C&B. Abstr., vol. 5, f. 401, para. 32; FWIHC, vol. 1, pp. 680-81)। ১৭৫৩র বছর নিয়ে উদ্গ্রীব কোম্পানির আমলারা ব্যবসায়ীদের শর্ত জানতে চাইল। তারা বললেন, ব্যবসায়ীরা কোম্পানির সঙ্গে কোনও রকম চুক্তিতে যেতে অনিচ্ছুক কারণ তারা suffered these three years past by the Company's business। তারা কোম্পানিকে স্পষ্টভাষায় জানালেন, not on any account undertake the investment.on the same terms as they did the previous year। কিন্তু যেহেতু তারা served the Company almost from their infancy and lived under the English protection, they would do their utmost to forward their business এবং তাদের শর্তে চুক্তি হলে সেই চুক্তিতেই তারা থাকবেন, নইলে নয় (For the merchants' terms, see BPC, vol. 26, ff. 157vo-158, 31 May 1753)। কাউন্সিল এই শর্তকে চরমতম অযৌক্তিক বলে ঘোষণা করে ব্যবসায়ীদের বলল ব্যবসায়ীরা কি তাদের কঠোর অবস্থান থেকে সরে আসবে না? উত্তর দিলেন দাদনি বণিকদের নেতা রাধাকৃষ্ণ শেঠ, বললেন ব্যবসায়ীদের শর্ত যদি মানা হয় তাহলেই তারা চুক্তিতে উৎসাহী অন্যথায় he absolutely refused to undertake any part of the investment himself (Ibid., f. 158, 31 May 1753; C&B.
